Meet Dr Cozy Costello

From 2025 onwards, Dr Cozy has chosen to endorse Hooper Ruff across all product categories.

This endorsement goes far beyond a name on a label. Dr Cozy actively uses, trials and reviews Hooper Ruff products and is deeply familiar with how they are developed - from formulation decisions to manufacturing processes and quality control behind the scenes. His involvement is practical, ongoing and informed by real-world veterinary experience.

As a vet working extensively in regional and remote Australia, Dr Cozy is highly selective about the brands he aligns with. He takes particular pride in working with Australian-founded businesses in the pet care space and was drawn to Hooper Ruff for its transparency, thoughtful product design and genuine commitment to animal welfare.

“I’m careful about what I put my name to. Hooper Ruff’s products are well-considered, responsibly made and designed with animals’ real lives in mind.” - Dr Cozy

Backing Australian-Made, Because It Matters

Working extensively in regional and remote Australia, Dr Cozy has seen firsthand how important it is to trust the products used on animals — particularly in areas where access to follow-up care, replacements, or immediate veterinary support is limited.
“Out bush, you need products you can trust — there’s no room for shortcuts.” - Dr Cozy

As a fifth-generation farmer, backing Australian-made products is second nature to him; it reflects a deep belief in accountability and supporting the people who live and work here.

For Dr Cozy, choosing Australian-made isn’t about marketing - it’s about knowing who made the product, the standards it’s been held to, and having confidence that if something isn’t right, there is responsibility and recourse. Supporting Australian brands also means keeping skills, jobs, and innovation local, and ensuring products are made for Australian conditions and animals, not just global scale.

Not Your Typical Vet

Dr Cozy isn’t just a vet - he’s a fifth-generation farmer who has spent his life caring for animals where help is hardest to reach.

Raised on a cattle property in Charters Towers, Cozy comes from five generations of Costello's deeply connected to farming, land stewardship and community service. His family played an active role supporting troops during World War II and that legacy of service continues today through his work in remote veterinary care.

Now flying his plane “Pip”, Cozy travels thousands of kilometres into regional and remote Australia, providing critical veterinary support to farmers and communities impacted by floods, fires, and isolation. He has rescued three dogs - Levi, Percy, and Henry - from remote parts of Australia, and continues to advocate for animals that would otherwise go unseen.

“Some of the most important work happens far away from clinics, shelves, and social media.” - Dr Cozy
